Getting the message DVD Decoder is not compatible

“Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is
not installed on your computer” while trying to play a DVD video on Windows
Media Player 11.
I am running Windows XP Professional with SP2 and lastest security updates.
What do I need to do? I cannot play any DVD with audio and video.
I have the Window Validation Tool installed on the PC but when I try to
install WMP XP Pro 64bit or WM9codecs.exe to see if it will fix it - fail
with the vaildation question.

If DecCheck says you already have one, try to switch to a media center
compatible DVD decoder in the list :

If not, you'll have to buy or use a trial version decoder -
Nvidia and Elecard make versions with free trials to test out :
