This is all I want to do:
1) Select files to play in windows explorer
2) Drop them on WMP
3) Play

This is what I have to do:
1) Select files to play in WE
2) Drop them on WMP
3) Begin the re-ordering process
If I have a.mpg, b.mpg, c.mpg, d.mpg they will be invariably out of
order after a drag-drop.  The order will be something like d.mpg, a.mpg,
b.mpg, c.mpg.  It works out to be about 1/5 of the files that should be at
the beginning of the list are actually placed at the end of the list.  I
believe this is a bug in windows explorer's drag logic, but I can't confirm
this.
This happens EVERY EFFING TIME.  Compounding this, wmp 11 will not allow
you to re-order multiple files at once. So if I drop twenty files and five of
them are out of order, I have to move each ONE AT A EFFING TIME.  When you're
talking about fifty ordered-by-name files, you can understand my FRUSTRATION
with this.
4) Buy a new monitor, as I've smashed my old one in frustration from having
to REORDER THE GDMN FILES YET AGAIN!!!!

Another problem that bites my a.s one too many times is the fact that
playlists are not saved automatically.  If I create a playlist of, say, fifty
titles (after five hours of rearranging the effing files to be in
alphabetical order), and WMP is shut down improperly, the playlist is TOAST.
In addition, if the order and location of the playback at the time of
shutdown is important (ie. listening to a book on disc), you lose this
information.  Hell, you lose that even when you shut it down properly.

In short, WMP needs:
1)  When recieving a drag-drop, order the files ALPHABETICALLY or at least
give me the option to force that!
2)  Automatically save playlist, currently playing file, and current
playback location AT LEAST once a friggin minute!
3)  Buy me a new monitor to replace the one that I busted out of sheer
frustration

Rant OUT.

Programs generally react to clipboard/drag-and-drop items in the order
they were selected. If you want alphabetical reception, ensure
alphabetical selection.

I also recommend not using beta software in v11's current state.

I do select the files in alphabetical order.  To repro:

Copy a single mp3 twenty times
Name each copy sequentially (1.mp3, 2.mp3, etc)
Ensure they are in alphabetical order in windows explorer
Select all the files
Drag and drop into WMP
Voila, pain and suffering via incorrectly alphabetized mp3s

I just figured it out.
Say you have twenty six files, a.mp3 to z.mp3, and you select them.  Next,
you click on g.mp3, drag the group to WMP, and drop them in the list pane.
You'll see that the list of files will start with g.mp3, go through z.mp3,
then start from a.mp3 and end at f.mp3.  Repeat the process, clicking on
a.mp3.  You'll see the list is presented correctly.  It turns out that the
first file will be the file you CLICKED ON to perform the drag and drop.  The
list will continue from this file to the end, then loop back to the start.
To prevent this from happening, select your files and then click on the first
file of the selection to drag the group.  What a great feature.  For me to
poop on.

good one! for me to poop on.. what dog was that? I cant remember his name...

Indeed wmp11 has many many many problems and I hate it... I prefer using
other programs
than wmp... and when I installed wmp11 I uninstalled it a few hours later...
It was horrible....

Perhaps you should use Winamp that was designed by a serious team

for music I am using a super small application now XMPLAY google for that...
its simple small and loads in a second...

I've got and use winamp, and it's got its own set of issues.

This issue of the drag and drop isn't WMP's fault.  Its explorer's fault.
You'll see the issue in any program that doesn't re-order files dropped on it
from explorer.

I think it is not a "but" but a "feature" This behaviour is by design.
Same thing happens when you rename a large number of fies at the same time.
The numbering starts on the one you have clicked on.

The dog was called Triumph... :-)

Explorer sets the first track in the list it hands off to be the one that
your mouse is over.  Move your mouse back to "A" and you're happy.  Custom
sorts from Explorer won't work, but this is how you guarantee the starting
point of the playlist.
