I have downloaded video files and when I open on WMP11 I get a message
telling I have not the neccessary Codecs. When I look at the Microsoft
information I am asked to tick the box that "Downloads codecs needed to play
or open a file or  folder  in WMP" I am instructed to go to options> tools >
player and tick the box. But on my Internet Explorer 7 there is no such
option  in Tools . There is only internet options. Am I missing something
here because WMP11 is becoming a pain and is it possible to uninstall and
return to 10 or 9?

The option is in the Player not IE.

Uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs (with Show Updates checked) and it
will revert to v10.
