Hi,
I installed WMP11 on my XP Media Center 2005 box. After that, if I convert
an MP3 to WMA using Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition, the new WMA file
won't play. This is using typical conversion settings (128 kbps, CBR). The
error is:

code: C00D119A
original error code: 80040200 An invalid media type was specified

I don't know what codec is missing, if any, but either way, I have set it to
download codecs automatically.
Other symptoms:
1.WMA tracks that were converted from MP3 prior to installing WMP11 play
just fine.
2. Newly converted WMA tracks play fine on WMP11 running on Vista RC1.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling WMP11, but that didn't help.
Could someone please help?
Regards,
Prashant

If you run the converted WMA files through Windows Movie Maker (or any other
WMA encoding tool) to reencode them to WMA, do they then work?

Speaking for myself only.
See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
