Recently upgraded to media player 11. Player does not recognize my CDRW drive
Message above my burn list: "Connect a burner and restart the player". Have
checked that burner works by dubbing a direct drive copy from cdrom. Have
uninstalled and re-installed cdr/w drive, have used troubleshooting options
within windows which shows the drive is operating fine. My music is trapped
in Media Player....

If WMP 10 recognized your burner and WMP 11 doesn't, the problem is clearly
in WMP 11. I would roll back to WMP 10.

Do you have Roxio Drag-to-Disk installed? Try uninstalling it if you do.

You are having the same problem as I am. I could not burn with version 9
so I upgraded to 11. I think the problem is the burner is not recognizing
our drive. I also have the "Connect the burner and restart the player."
I use the same drive for burning photos but it will not burn audio CDs.

Did you find a solution this problem? I have the same and have yet to
resolve it. Can you help?

I had a similar problem with WMP11 not recognizing my cd burner and I had a
Roxio CD Creator on my machine. I uninstalled Roxio, rebooted and WMP
recognized the burner. I am back in business.

Did you uninstall the whole roxio program or just Drag to disk?
I uninstalled Drag to disk & it did not help.
Media player 11 still does not recognize my drive & the "recording" tab is
not available in "My computer" "Devices with removable properties" "right
click" properties"
I dont want to uninstall my Roxio creator 9 as I use it a lot.
I have not seen an answer anywhere & many people seem to be experiencing this.
There must be someone who has found an answer.

I have uninstalled Media Player 11 & reverted back to MP 10.
I went into "Services.msc" & "started" IMAPI CD Burning com service & put it
on "automatic.
I am now able to burn a CD. I can only assume the problem was with MP 11

I would agree with you that the problem is with WMP11. I had no problems
with WMP10. Maybe someone from Microsoft will read and investigate.
