Hi all, got a problem with wm11 and it's buging me now, what it is. I've lost
the default view in the album section of the library instead of it showing up
with all my album art images of the albums that i've got installed i.e 400
albums all neat & tidy, it's started showing them in like the show as groups
what win xp uses for the hadrives & cd-roms i.e others, a,b,c,d,e,f and so
on, every now & then it will go back to the neat & tidy album view then when
i click on now playing or move to a differnt section of wm11 it goes back to
the show as groups view, it even does that if i click on x to shut it down or
goto file, exit, is there any way i can get media player to keep the nice &
tidy album view staying all the time like it was when i first installed the
program? or do i have to go back to wm10? if i do how do i do that & keep all
my drm tracks that i've got aswell thx

just read another post in the windows media player forum about that same
thing, and i belive the grouping of the albums, artists & so on cant be
changed, but why will it change back on it's own and then lose focus of what
i've set? i cant re-install xp as it would take me days to re-install all the
updates and my tracks :-(

If you uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Player 11 Format
from Add/Remove Programs, you will revert to whatever version you had before
WMP 11. Many users do lose their libraries in the process but not the actual
tracks. Just rebuild your library following the instructions at
http://www.dalepreston.com/Blog/2007/03/windows-media-player-metadata-backup.htm
l#rebuilding.

The library isn't touched during the rollback process (the rollback process
used is a generic Microsoft rollback process that wouldn't know "Windows
Media Player" from a rock). The v10 library engine just uses the v10
library (WMDB file). The v11 library engine uses the v11 library file. If
you're fearful that rolling back is going to cause corruption to your v10
library, you could back up that file previous to rollback and restore it
afterwards if needed. But it's not touched.

That makes perfect sense to me; I just offered the tip because there have
been several posters complain of lost libraries when migrating from 10 to 11
or from rolling back from 11 to 10. I just didn't want to leave the OP
without a music library.

Actually, the headers that you're seeing are a required part of Windows Media
Player 11 and cannot be turned off. When you see the list without the
headers, you're actually seeing a bug.
A couple of posters have found that just the right sequence of events, you
can make the headers go away until you do anything else, after which they
come back again to fly in the face of the Windows Media Player product team's
customers. I am sure the bug will be fixed in the next version of Windows
Media Player so that the headers will always be there.

Thx Dale for that reply :-), when i'm in album view or either song, gene i
click on say faith of our feathers by dustin, but it doesnt play that, it
plays party hits by black lace :-( it even does it when i've got the view
tiled or extended view (some of the albums are not showing up) they are there
but cant see them, i can get to them if i go into songs, but as i've got some
dance albums with about 22 artists on them the song listing puts them for
example grooverider - walk in the park, LFX - sky walker, that's why i like
the album view so it plays all the album, but some albums dont show up in
that mode :-( in that case how do i remove wm11 and install wm10 as wm11 for
me aint working proper :-( , dont get me wrong i like the layout of the
program and design, but it's not upto scratch proper thx again

That's a totally different problem. If that is all of the problem, then
don't roll back. Just rebuild your library following the instructions on the
link I gave you before.
