I recorded video on my camera. Nikon puts video into MOV format. grrrrrrrrr 1. I suspect the answer is no......But does anyone know of a way to have the camera put the video files in MPG or WMV format to start with? **************** The exact same MOV files will not play on my computer, but will play on other computers when I copy them with a memory stick. (And I do have the latest version of Quicktime and Windows Media Player.) I tried various codec packages and downloading Nikon support software. And the video still plays all scrambly with pink and green blobs all over the screen. 2. So the real question is......Is there a way to play MOV with Windows Media player? The files aren't in MOV format specifically - they're probably recorded as MPEG-4 : MOV is a container format, like AVI is, and can contain media recorded in a wide variety of formats. >The exact same MOV files will not play on my computer, but will play on >other computers when I copy them with a memory stick. Quicktime Pro (about $25-30) can convert the videos to almost any other codec, though usually in AVI, MPG or MOV. If you had a Mac, the Flip4Mac tools (again about $25-30) can convert to WMV. But it sounds like your best bet is going to be to find a converter program and use that to move the content to your preferred format. There is also a 'cheat' that may work for you- could be a pain if you have to do this alot Earlier I was helping someone in a FrontPage NG, they were having issues with HTMLView. While looking at options, I stumbled across the ability to display Flash (SWF) movies inside of WMP by wrapping it into an ASX file. I read your problem, and tried it with a MOV file- it worked! I copied the file to my desktop and it is named 'sample.mov' I created this file in Notepad and called it sample.asx contents: <asx version="3.0"> <entry> <ref href="sample.mov"/> <duration value="00:02:00.00"/> </entry> </asx> Simple enough, and it even worked. >>I recorded video on my camera.
