I love using WMP11 since its release however I'm having a problem with it
lately. About 2 days ago, I noticed a new playlist on it with no name, only
an icon. I never recalled creating such so I tried deleting it but to no
avail. Tried renaming it, can't be renamed. Tried adding songs into that
"phantom" playlist but still can't add any. Tried reinstalling after
uninstalling it, tried that action about 4 times hoping that playlist would
disappear. Cleared the restore point each time to make sure. Even tried going
through regedit hoping to catch something different with the WMP11 settings,
found none.
Question is, can anyone from microsoft or anyone with knowledge or idea help
me out? The player still works, plays songs, movies and all however I annoyed
with the blank playlist. Please please help me there might be more errors
behind this mishap.

If you right-click on Playlists and choose "Show Playlists" are there
any more blank ones or just this one ?
You could well be able to right-click on the [blank] playlist icon
area there, choose to Show Location (on disk) then browse to that
folder in windows explorer and delete the playlist directly - it
should eventually disappear from WMP when it notices it's gone.

I have the same problem - can't find a fix anywhere! ReinstallingWMP, using
windows restore points, using regedit, editing playlists or looking for a
playlist file eslewhere on the PC all dont seem to help with this problem.
My 'phantom' playlist with no name, just an icon, appeared after creating a
playlist and then renaming it. You cannot delete/rename/move the playlist and
there is no corresponding blank playlist file in the playlist folder. It
appears to be a bug in displaying the correct number of playlists, eg it
wants to show say five playlists but only has data for four. It doesnt appear
to be a registry problem or user preference problem more of an internal
problem but i dont know how this can come about. Creating or deleting new
playlists does not change the problem either. I am stumped on this one.
Can anyone help with this please?
Regards James
