Just wondering if someone can check something in WMP 10 for me.
Pick one of your MP3s and make a copy of it. Then use Winamp or
http://www.assistanttools.com/ to completely "clear" the ID3v1/v2 tag of
that MP3 file. If you load it up in Winamp, press ALT-3 then both ID3v1 &
ID3v2 should be ghosted out - the checkboxes unticked. Close Winamp or
Assistant-Tools. Right-click the MP3 and tick Read-Only attribute.
Now load the same MP3 in WMP10 to play it. Then close it down. Now load the
same MP3 in Winamp and ALT-3 to see if the tags have been enabled again.
I just need someone to confirm to me that WMP10 enables ID3v1/v2 tags of
MP3s when you specifically disabled the ID3v1/v2 tags - and especially when
you enforced this by setting the Read-Only attribute.
I can't do this since I still use WMP 9 and don't want to upgrade unless WMP
10 stops doing the above issue. (Plus, you can't downgrade).
I didn't see this on WMP 10.0.0.419 when used in conjunction with WinAMP
5.21.
* Copied Diplo's
01-missy_elliot_and_ludacris_vs_the_clash-gossip_folk_vs_rock_the_casbah.mp3
* Cleared ID3 tags using WinAMP's View File Info
* Set the Read-only flag
* Copied that "cleared" file
* Played the file in entirety in WMP10
* Viewed File Info again using WinAMP
* Did a binary difference between the "cleared" file and its clone - no
difference.
So: I didn't see this.
