Hey all,

I have to say I love the new windows media player 11 its great, but I do
have 1 problem, when I play a dvd the player just freezes and I have to
ctrl-alt-delete and close it that way.

Does anyone have any ideas or help?
many thanks

Nothing springs to mind. If a valid decoder is installed for WMP, it
should pretty much work unless the disk is buggered.

What does DecCheck say about your DVD decoder?

Thanks for the help,
I guess it is a decoder problem, I do have cyberlink powerdvd and Nero 7
installed and thought they would work, I can play dvds on them so its not the
disc. Maybe Ill just have to stick with them.

DecCheck gives me the name of 4 decoders
1 Nero DVD decoder NeVideo.ax 2.0.24.0 with 2 red crosses
2 Nero Video Decoder with a red x under compatable and a green tick under
MCE Compatable
3 Cyberlink video/SP decoder for dell with yello caution under compatable
and green tick for MCE
4 Nero Video decoder HD with a red cross on both sides.

If this helps good, if not then ill just have to use a different program to
watch dvds.

Love the new media player anyways:)
thanks for the help

OK well none of those are going to work according to the checkup tool.

I know the NVidia purevideo decoder *does* work cause I've tested it :
http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html

The Elecard MPEG-2 decoder also works fine :

Both are available with 21-30 day free trials so you ca test em out.

HTH
