XP Protection Fault with Printer

I have a OKI C5800ldn printer that continues to cause me problems.  I am
using a Dell Vostro(Intel Core 2, quad processor), with Windows XP Pro.

The printer when first installed worked for about 3 or 4 weeks without
problems.  Then without changing anything, it stopped working.  I tried
everything I could to fix the problem but ultimately had to re-format
the hard drive and then re-install all software and drivers.  It worked
for about 3 weeks and is doing the exact same thing again.  Under the
"Printers and Faxes" it shows the printer is installed but when I click
on properties I get the following error:  Function address 0x68641b91
caused a protection fault. (exception code 0xc0000094).  If I delete the
printer and re-install it, I get a divide by zero error.

Before reformatting the hard drive I installed SP3 but that didn't fix
it.  After reformatting, I re-installed SP2 which is currently on my system.

I contacted Dell Support last night and this is a snippet from  the
response I received:
"Hi! Thank you for contacting Dell Warranty Support. It appears that the
problem is with the printer driver. I just did a research on this, and
there are other people experiencing the same thing on their Oki Printers."

OKI says that it is a Microsoft spooler problem.

I have a HP b/w laser printer and a Seiko label printer that are also
connected to my computer and neither of these are experiencing any
problems.  Everything is connected directly to my computer via cable.
No printers are shared with other computers.

I cannot re-format my hard drive every month to use this printer.

Can anyone help me please!

Are you using the most recent driver for your printer?

Have you contacted OKI technical support?

Leonard,

Yes, I'm using the latest driver and yes I contacted OKI.  OKI said this
is a Microsoft issue.

I have the exact same problem, but with the OKI C5500.  I received the same
reply from OKI support: it's a Microsoft problem, not an OKI problem and I
also have other printers that work fine on my XP Professional version of
Windows.  I glad to find out that your extreme reformating measures fixed the
problem only temporarly so that won't have to bother with the same extreme
measures.  It looks like I'll have to junk a new printer that I love and paid
several hundred dollars for because of this unfixable problem.

What type of event log do you want?  Application or System or??

Please let me know.

Also, my printer is still not working.

Sry been on holiday last 2 weeks.

If you could supply the system logs, that would help me see whats going
on with the system at the time the driver becomes un-responsive.

Thx
