I'm running Vista Enterprise, and my offline files service will not start.
The event view shows the following error when I try and start it:
The Offline Files service terminated with the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
I also get a pop up message when starting the service that says the same thing with Error 0x80070003.
I have tried everything I can find to fix the problem. I've looked at the service directly, and it is using svchost.exe to call LocalSystemNetworkRestricted.
The path to executable actually says:
C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalSystemNetworkRestricted
I have spoken with other Vista users about what this service shows on their system, and it is identical.
the only thing I can think of there is either a file missing, or I have an invalid registry setting, but I can't find anything wrong.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

Hi Eric,
any resolution to your problem? Have exaclty the same issue with an
Acer notebook, Vista Business and 2 hours old. Enabling and Disabling
the Offline Files in the control panel had the same effect - nothing!
Searching the Net didn't bring me any closer to a solution. Please, if
you had any joy, please share!
