Can we move files or is it 'unsafe'?

Hi. Can't get the point of the new move/paste tool of this version of
Windows. Computer says that he move files, and even make my patience work a
lot for it, but I couldn't get any little file moved in the end. Are they
coming back in the drive? Are they afraid of my computer?

From Maxtor OneTouch (extern harddrive) to Acer Ferrari 4005WTMi (Local
HardDrive)

Is the external hard-drive formatted as NTFS, and did you create the files
there from Windows XP?
