Hi! Always I open a new window of Windows Explorer, the layout I previously
organized is completely resetted to default. I mean, always I open a new
instance of Windows Explorer, the navigation pane is as small as the default
settings of Vista(although I strech it every time I open a new Explorer
window), and the preview pane has always another size (although I set it to
large and lock it every time I open a new Explorer window). I tried to
uncheck the "Remember each folder's view settings" option in Folder Options,
hoping this would make layout setting universal for every folder, but it
doesn't really changed something. Can anyone help me? Would be very
appreciated! Thanks

Hello,

You are half way there!

1) You need to browse to a standard folder. For example, your C:\ drive from
Computer will work nicely.

2) Set up the window the way you want it

3) Click Organize -> Folder Options

4) Click the View tab

5) Click Apply to Folder

6) Click Yes to confirm your intentions

Also note that there are a few special folders that do things their own way,
such as your Pictures folder and Videos folder ... you will have to set them
up individually. :)

I tried that and it doesn't seem to work.

How do I get it to NOT expand the 'appdata' by default? I want to right
click the Start button and hit explore without it showing a list a mile long.
I have to collapse the folders just to get to a basic view every single time.

e.g.

This is what I want
c:
\users
       \myname

I'm currently getting this
c:
\users
      \myname
                \appdata
                          \roaming
                                   \microsoft
                                              etc. etc. etc..... it just
keeps going.

Any one..... Any one???

I'm sorry Pustoolio, but this is OK.
Start menu is located in that folder and you just pressed to explore it.
This is the same on XP.

If you are just trying to open the Explorer from the context menu of Start
button, I guess you would have to add that item in registry.
