Is there a possibility to set the Windows Explorer so, that a single click on
a node's name in the navigation tree opens the tree?
This behaviour was working in Windows XP and was much better than now in
Vista where we need to find first the little tiny arrows on the left.

You can just double-click on the node name to expand the tree below.

i know. a single click is much easier to use.
the new explorer is not as good as the old one in windows xp (except for
scaling picture previews) if you have to work intensiv on files such as for
software development.

Maybe somebody else knows how to change to single-click.
I also like to keep my hands on the keyboard and use the right and left
arrow keys for expanding and collapsing the tree.

Hi, Ludwig.

Folder Options | General | Click items as follows.

Get to Folder Options in several ways.  From Windows Explorer, click
Organize | Folder and Search Options.
