I have a toshiba laptop.  Bought it about six months ago.  Problem is when I
am typing an e mail message the type goes back to an earlier letter in the
text and starts from there.  For instance if I am typing the word bought the
computer finds another u in the text and inserts my message after it.   Is
this a problem with Vista or is it my laptop.

This is a common problem and usually happens when your palm hits the
touchpad while you're typing. Many laptops have the ability to turn off the
touchpad while you're typing. Look at your laptop's manual/help files to
see how to do this with yours.
