recently I have found that on clicking the games link on the start menu , it
takes a long time for the games explorer to open. even after opening it runs
very slowly. other programs and links respond quickly.
can anyone suggest any remedy?

I'm kindda getting that as well, often when I startup my system, if Vista
isn't loaded all the way it'll take a really long time for Games Explorer
to come up. My solution has been to turn on my system and let it come up
for like 5 minutes before I start using it.

Use Sleep mode if your system works well with it.
