(The file d3dx9_XX.DLL was not found)

recently when i went to run CNC 3 kanes wrath i got an error saying "The
file d3dx9_XX.DLL was not found".I read elsewhere on this forum someone
had the same problem with a differant game

So i decided to download and instal this so called DX9 update. But now
im getting a windows interactive msg all the time saying cant display
message on your desktop, when i click it i get a runtime error for
"program C:windows\system32\spoolsv.exe2. Please could someone help as
its driving me insane and doesnt seem to ever sort the problem.

Hi J41981,

You need the Latest DirectX update found here:
http://www.vistax64.com/gaming/162064-latest-directx-update.html It
includes that file and updates DirectX to the latest release (August
2008) ;)

God, in this age of internet viruses and malware, why anyone would download
Microsoft files from anywhere other than Microsoft.com is beyond me... No
offense vistax64.com, but re-hosting Microsoft stuff to promote your site
is silly.

http://www.microsoft.com/directx

Look for the dxwebsetup.exe file and run it on your computer, it'll make
sure your files are OK.

If the game is now causing problems after performing the DirectX update, go
find drivers for your video and audio cards as well.

Is it possible that your antivirus / firewall software is blocking
access? I would disconnect from the internet, disable your anti-malware
software, and then proceed to install the following:

'DirectX 9.0c - November 2007 Release - FULL Download'
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1A2393C0-1B2F-428E-BD79
-02DF977D17B8&displaylang=en)

See if it works.

Also ensure you didn't forget to download the latest GPU drivers.
