Counterstrike in Vista

whenever i try to play CS i get an error saying

video mode not supported.. must start in software mode

is this because i have directx 10 and not 9?

how do i downgrade to 9 or is there somewasy to fix this

In the release notes, it comes with this:

"Half Life Counterstrike will not completely start in Direct3D mode. To
avoid this, contact your video card vendor to obtain the appropriate OpenGL
driver and run the game in OpenGL mode. If you have started the game in
Direct3D mode and it has stopped responding while displaying the "loading"
screen, press the ESC key to return to the game menu."

Maybe if you follow those steps, it'll work :o) Hope this helps!
