I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and had my scanner working fine a month
ago.  It has gradually stopped working to the point where it isn't even
detecting it.  I've tried downloading drivers, updates, from Microsoft
and HP with no luck.  Any advice?  Thank you.

Does it work with another computer?  It may not be Vista.  It may be the
scanner.

It works on my other computer running the same version of Vista.

Does HP have a complete Uninstall utility on their website.... if so,
disconnect the device, uninstall, the driver package, reboot the PC, then
reinstall... and ensure you do not connect the device until the driver
package tells you to do so.

That worked.  It's still pretty inconsistant, I've had to uninstall
everything numerous times.  I think it might be the HP solution center
trying to access the network and unable to do so.
