Synaptics Touch Pad Driver fails load intermittently.
I’m running Windows Vista Business on a Fujitsu P7010D. Fujitsu does not
have Vista drivers for this unit at this time, so I am running the latest
Vista Driver from Synaptics website. (v9.1.0 Vis32)
My problem is that occasionally on start up the mouse drivers will not load
and the touchpad will not work. If I navigate to the device manager using the
keyboard, there are no entries under “mice and other pointing devices”.
Sometimes restarting the computer will load the driver, sometimes not.
Installing an external USB mouse causes the touch pad to show up in device
manager but it still does not work until a restart.
Any Suggestions?

What you describe tells me that the hardware is not being physically
detected. If it were detected, but unidentified, you would see such in
device manager.
You have hardware problems I believe. Maybe a loose internal connection or
an oxidized connection that is intermittent.

Did you ever get your issue resolved. I am having the same problem only
both my keyboard and mouse appear to be having this issue. Randomly on
boot up only the keyboard will work, other times both the key board and
touchpad work, and on other boot-ups neither one works. I can't figure
out what the issue is.
