I have a 27 inch widescreen monitor which the native resolution is 1360x768.
i have dual 8600gt and run them in sli. no matter what i have tried it will
not allow me to go to a higher resolution than 1200x768, which is really
starting to bother me. i would also like to be able to run games at
1680x1050, but because windows isnt letting me, the game will not let me.
amd yes i have unchecked "hide modes this monitor canot display"

Let's see. You are selecting a value your monitor cannot display, and you
are wondering why it won't display it?

You cannot display beyond the capabilities of your monitor...
but you should be able to get to 1360 x 768.
Did you install the latest video drivers from the mfg's website?
If not...get them.
If you use Windows built-in drivers it could explain why you do not get
all the resolution you should be able to
