Yep! A possible workaround is to install a soundcard, if you have a slot
available. Make sure drivers are available before upgrading any machine.

Thank You Wandering, Ive now got a driver that works, Microsoft downloaded it
presumably in response to all the Find a Solution Online requests I was
sending when the PC crashed.
