Does anyone at microsoft know the current state of vista
video drivers in ref to how optimized for desktop performance
Nvidia and Ati/Amd really are. and what features in the
future we can look foward too, like shaders for window
effects, True windows glass effect or when desktop
will be true Direct X 10, no tricks for backwards
Compatibility.
Anyone on windows Team care to comment? or truely explain
where we are and where we will be in the future. Thanks Stance

The Windows team does not hang out here. This is not a managed newsgroup
but is just peer to peer. If you want commentary from members of the MS
teams you should read the MS team blogs. Navigate to microsoft.com and
search on "vista team blog". The blogs contain tons of information.
The info you are asking about concerning video cards would come from the
card manufacturer's sites in any case. MS does not do the drivers.

Since DX10 code requires that the OS support DX10 and that the system
graphics card also has native DX10 support. Only Nvidia 8xxx chips and ATI
2xxx chips or better have this support. Therefore I don't see the Windows
interface implementing DX10 features for several years.
What do you mean by "true windows glass support" possibly fully translucent
windows?
