From within Windows Mail, 'File|Export|Messages'; use Microsoft Exchange as
the target.  For Addresses, 'File|Export|Windows Contacts' and select .CSV
as the format.  These can then be imported by Outlook using 'File|Import and
Export|Import from another program or file|Comma Separated Values'.  If you
have Outlook 2007, you can import Contacts directly using 'File|Import and
Export|Import Internet mail and Addresses' with "Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x,
6.x, or Windows Mail" selected as the source.  Note that you MUST have
Outlook installed and functioning on your Vista machine for this transfer to
work.

Your explanation allowed me to trace the export of a WinMail process to the
folder I selected, BUT when I run the process to export the files to Exchange
format so I can inport to Outlook it gives NO CLUE where they are being
saved.  Another thing I notice is it is difficult to locate a program link or
property that shows me where the default folders send data. So where on my
computer(vista) are my Exports from Winmail for Outlook

If you are exporting msgs, Outlook has to be set up and functioning first.
The msgs are exported directly to Outlook, they are not exported to a file
that you then import to Outlook.

My MS Outlook is fine, problem is that I was expecting to have toi actuaqlly
import the files from WinMail to MS Outlook. It really would save all alot of
time if MS just drew some simple graphs with stilts and ptrs to explain  the
flow. Pictures work for me. So where is the documentation for this.

In Mail you *Export to Outlook*, if you Import, in OL, all the msg dates are
changed to the import date

They go directly to the default PST file for the installed copy of Outlook.

I have read what you have said - but I can not get outlook to work on my
Vista laptop. I have another laptop which I have put outlook onto and it is
working great.

What I need to do is get all my old Windows emails off my other laptop and
into outlook on my new laptop.

As I can not export them - do you knw how this can be resolved?

I'm sorry but when I tryed this it asked me for a CSV filename, and I have
none for the messages.  Contacts I do. but not messages.  I do have Outlook
up and running and Windows Mail as well.
