My windows Mail was working properly, but today when I started the
program this message appeared:
Account: 'imap.gmail.com', Server: 'imap.gmail.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '
* OK Gimap ready for requests from 89.205.36.82 4if6509112fge',
Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number:
0x800CCC90
and now I am not able to send and recieve mails.
What is the problem?
I am using Nod 32 3.0 antivirus
Windows Vista Bussines x64 OS

That was the receive error message.
Could you also post the send error?
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with IMAP receive errors, but I may
be able to help you with the SMTP send problem.

0x800CCC90 error on IMAP is caused by your Anti Virus. Disable your email scanning (incoming and outgoing) feature of your AV. In some cases depending on the make of your AV (Norton and MacAfee ) needs to be uninstalled. Use something that is free and not so bloated like Avast. Whichever one (AV)you decide to use always when installing never select the email integration (scanning) feature of the AV security suite

With what antivirus program? With some, disabling part is not
enough, you have to uninstall the whole program instead.
What is the full error message?

You want to tell me that it's not possible to run Antivirus (some of
them) and to use Windows Mail at the same time?

Some of the antivirus programs keep causing problems in Windows
Mail, even if you don't run them at the same time. Some of the
antivirus programs have resident portions that keep running all
of the time.

NOD32 shouldn't be a problem with email scanning turned off. I've only read
one such report among many posts praising it.

I think Gmail uses port 995 for incoming, not 993. Check with them.

Port 993 is correct for IMAP. Port 995 is for POP3.

Depending on whether you use POP or IMAP, it can be either 993 or 995.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

I just did this and now get another error.
An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server:

That error typically means interference from an antivirus program.
Which antivirus are you running?

Is there someone out there who can help us please? We have been unable to
receive emails nor send them for three days now. It keeps asking for login
details (which we give and know are correct) then won't let us further. The
error is:
Account: 'email', Server: 'pop.orangehome.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Invalid login/password pair', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
We have uninstalled Norton 360 but still can't get it. We have also used a
diagnostics and they say there is nothing wrong!
Help please.

After uninstalling a Norton antivirus program, you often need to run this
cleanup program to take care of what the uninstall left behind:
<http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039>
You may even need to remove your email account under Windows Mail,
then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.
&groupId=1&page=http://ESERVER_41563e7f-7193-4ca3-9d42-454d91d08b66.xhtml&docTyp
e=1006&resultType=5002&docProp=$solution_id&docPropValue=kb15279>
Also, your email provider may have tightened up their requirements on how
you log in. Some email providers insist that you enter your username with
no
spaces and no CAPITAL LETTERS. Some insist that you follow it with the
part of your email address starting with @, and some insist that you don't.
Many insist that you use CAPITAL and lowercase letters in the correct
places in your password.

Follow up the Norton uninstall with Norton's removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Then delete that corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail,
and recreate the account.
