If I remember correctly, Windows Mail cannot connect to live.com
or Hotmail.  A similarly named program, Windows Live Mail, can,
and can also take over any accounts Windows Mail can handle.

http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

If you want to discuss that program, you're likely to get better
answers in newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

I don't know if this also applies to windwoslive.com.
