Gary VanderMolen - 30 Apr 2008 02:38 GMT Looks like a server time-out due to antivirus interference. Which antivirus are you running?

Thanks for any and all suggestions/ mutleysmom - 30 Apr 2008 02:55 GMT I think it is spelled Kaspersky.I also changed the Port number to 495 or something and it seems to be ok..

Thanks for any and all suggestions/ Gary VanderMolen - 30 Apr 2008 03:06 GMT Port number 495 is not a standard port for mail servers. Use only port numbers specified by the owner of the specific mail server. Be sure to turn off the email scanning option in Kaspersky.

Thanks for any and all suggestions/ Bob W - 30 Apr 2008 07:39 GMT Correct port numbers for GMAIL account are 465 and 995, respectively. Ditch the 495. Bob, Still Old, Still Grey, And Still A Woolf

Thanks for any and all suggestions/ Bob W - 30 Apr 2008 07:36 GMT Here are the correct setting for a gmail account in WinMail (you can find them online in Google's Gmail HELP FAQ - search for POP3): incoming: pop.gmail.com; outgoing: smtp.gmail.com; outgoing port: 465; incoming port: 995. Check both in and out secure SSL boxes, check remember password. Do NOT check authorization box. User name, email address, password as appropriate. Works fine for me with that. For Gmail, you can connect with either the IMAP method or the POP method. Choose one of these, and don't get them mixed up.
Bob W - 01 May 2008 01:22 GMT So which one do you have the email account with? Carter.net or Gmail.com or both and which are you having trouble with. I know what Gmail has to have (I have it too) and I can guess at charter. Which do you want? Bob, Still Old, Still Grey, And Still A Woolf
