Any error message?

Hi Frank,
The error message reads, "Photo gallery can't open this picture or video.
This file format is not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to
Photo gallery."
Does this help?

I have a little more info. I noticed that the files I can open in a folder
end with (image/tiff) and the ones I can't end with (application/applefile).
Am I to assume it is a Mac problem?

Tell the sender to send you a Windows-based document instead.

For my own curiosity, what makes a Windows-based doc, a Windows-based doc?

It was created by a Windows program running on a Windows computer,
rather than (say) on an Apple Mac computer. To be sure, some Mac
programs have an option to save a document in a Windows file format.

Makes sense! Thank you Gary. By the way, do you know you are coming up as
John Richards? An alter-ego perhaps? : )
Cheers

You have a sharp eye.
I was having trouble with the msnews.microsoft.com news server earlier,
and switched to my ISP news server. I forgot that (for privacy) I use a
'pen' name on my ISP news server account.

Not sure, but, if I remember correctly, aren't TIF's graphic image files? What are you trying to open them with? You might want to convert them into a jpg or gif or bmp format. PAINT may do that for you (OPEN then Save As), or you can go to Zamzar online (http://www.zamzar.com/) and do the conversion there. Depending on what your default program is for TIF files, that might be the problem - wrong default.

Good morning,
I have received a few .tif attachments today that I can't open. I tried
forwarding them to myself (didn't work) and saving them in a folder. The
folder allowed me to open 2 out of 6 of them. Any suggestions to try and
open the rest? As always, many thanks for any and all help.

Bob
Your information, while incredibly useful, is a bit beyond my skill level.
I understood approximately, 43.3% of what you are suggesting! However, I am
a trooper and will see if I can put it into action. The .tifs that I am
trying to open are photographs from a graphic artist who uses a Mac. I am
tempted to tell him to drop them in an envelope and put them in the
mail...God forbid!!
Cheers,
Bash
