Opening attachments in email

Is there a way for attachments to open automatically. For instance, when
someone sends an attachment, and the pic  automatically open up. Like in
hotmail, yahoo, or gmail.

I don't believe so. Seems that would be a security risk since viruses
are often sent as attachments and should not be opened unless they are
from a trusted source.

For me, pictures sent to me as attachments do display automatically,
but other types of attachments have to be opened manually.
This is a reasonable security precaution.
