OE / WinMail need a file to reference as the source of the image, so you
have to specify the file and cannot just paste the image into the message
from the clipboard.

In plain text messages, OE / WinMail default to show any attached images
below the last line of text.

1) So only Outlook can use images inserted from clipboard directly? No
other SW?
2) Is it possible to disable default "auto-show" function?

There are probably other email programs, not from Microsoft, that
can do it.
Windows Mail has problems inserting images and other attachments
that are still open in some other program.

The replacement for Windows Mail, called Windows Live Mail, can do that.

No other MS software.

There was a setting in OE that would do it, but I think its gone in WinMail.
In OE it also screwed up some other behavior if you removed it.
