There was no calendar in OE.  You may be confused with Outlook.

Outlook Express won't run under Vista.

Windows Mail is a part of Vista, and very difficult to remove without also
removing the rest of Vista.

Some people consider Windows Live Mail to be closer to their idea of
what Outlook Express is:

When installed, it hides, but does not remove, Windows Mail and takes
over handling any accounts that were already set up in Windows Mail.

If you are confusing Outlook Express with Outlook, versions 2003 and
later of Outlook will run well under Vista.  Versions 2000 and 2002
will also run under Vista, but with some problems.

Sure you can use Outlook if you have it.

Versions 2003 and more recent of Outlook run well under Vista.
Versions 2000 and 2002 will run under Vista, but with some
problems.

Microsoft is apparantly trying persuade more people to buy their
extra cost software packages which include Outlook, instead
of putting all of its features into an email program that comes at
no extra cost with Vista.

Office Home and Student is sold as  being minus Outlook. It's a lot cheaper
than versions WITH Outlook....
