I've noticed almost a dozen or so threads about this problem in the last
24 hours, this tells me something is screwed up, somewhere along the
line, and Ive got similar problems, mail stuck in outbox mostly
attachments of pictures, and it refuses to go, and I keep getting error
messages

I've a hotmail account, and it worked with Outlook 2003 fine until a
few weeks back, then slowly things started going wrong, and mail was
not getting sent, I tried deleting and creating the account, but time
after time, the same persistant problems arose....

I then removed Outlook, and Outlook connector, as all of a sudden my
send and recieve tabs dissapeared, re-installed, and re created my
account, and the send and recieve tabs never came
back......bummer....I've searched online for soloutions, and never
found one!

Then I tried Windows Live Mail, thinking this would solve the problem,
nope, any email with an attachment sticks in the outbox and doesn't go
anywhere, I'm frustrated by this, as I can do so wit minimal problems
in the web page of my hotmail account, but any email program fails to
send...

I keep getting this error message

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (xxxxxxxxx) account.
To send and receive messages in your Hotmail account, go to
http://hotmail.live.com on the Web, or try again later. To get help
from Windows Live Customer Support, go to http://support.live.com and

hotmail/email programs and Vista?

Almost all of these Send and Receive errors are caused by other programs or
by the user not finding and following the instructions from the mail
provider.

To get help
from Windows Live Customer Support, go to http://support.live.com and
click Windows Live Mail in the list of services.

The Hotmail server has been having problems lately.

You're likely to find more people who use Windows Live Mail in newsgroup:

Frank,
I've submitted enquiries to Live Mail, it's pretty difficult to make an
error when setting up WLM, setting up the account is fairly straight and
easily understood, like I said, I had this problem with Outlook
2003/Outlook connector as well, in Outlook2003 my hotmail emails worked
fine, until recently, then the send and recieve tab dissapeared, I've
uninstalled, and re-installed, deleted the account and re-installed,
and it's still not working, at a suggestion I opted to tried WLM, and
the same problem persists....

The WLM newsgroup gets occasional help from Microsoft reps,
so you will get more assistance by posting in that newsgroup:
