I can receive mail just fine but I can't send mail using windows mail when
I'm connected to a network other than my home network. This is the error
message I get when I try to send mail:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Unsubscribe from
MemberPerk Emails', Account: 'insight.mail.com', Server:
'mail.insightbb.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have AVG anti-virus and I have tired uninstalling it and the problem still
occurs. My service provider is Insight Communications and I haven't found
any useful information on their website. Any ideas?? Thanks

See if this helps:
http://help.insightbb.com/outlook/remote_access.aspx
Although it was written for Outlook Express, it should also work under
Windows Mail if it doesn't call for the HTTP protocol.

If you are not connected to Insight's network, then they won't let you use
their email server port 25.
It looks like they do offer authenticated access using SSL.
Try these instructions for OE......

Whoever is providing your away-from-home connection will block any
attempt to use a port 25 SMTP server on a different network.
For an explanation of this policy see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx
There are four possible workarounds:
1. Use webmail for sending if Insight offers access to mail via the web.
2. Ask Insight if they have a port other than '25' for SMTP.
3. Use the SMTP server belonging to your current connection (not practical
if you move around a lot).
4. Get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, and
use it for your sending chores. Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not
blocked
like port 25 is.
