Hi has anyone had a problem with timeouts when collecting mail? The only
solution that I have come up with is re-booting, this clears it for the next
couple of days then it happens again.
Should I return to Outlook?

You can increase the timeout value under Tools | Accounts | Mail |
Properties | Advanced.  If that doesn't help, check what antivirus software
you have.  It could be interfering.  See point 3 here
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 and the section on WinMail.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus.  Also exclude EML
files from the scan.  It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.  The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
