Gary VanderMolen - 13 May 2008 20:49 GMT Probably MSN Explorer 8.5. Strange, how users can't copy the correct name of their app.

Hal Hostetler [MVP P/I] - 14 May 2008 20:00 GMT Thank you for the explanation, I really wasn't sure what application you were having trouble with; "Ms 8.5" wasn't ringing any bells. I'm glad you got it fixed.

Spartan 1 - 13 May 2008 22:27 GMT Yeah nobodys perfect, you must feel full of self importance, how about helping instead of being patronising in most of your threads.....
Not everyone is a computer geek, and tech head, and feel overwhelmed when they come across problems in what was touted as a fantastic operating system.......and I still see people with send and recieve issues, mostly related to hotmail, and Windows Live Mail, they all can't be idiots, I'm not an expert, but there's obviously software issues when these error are not consistent, I've had problems for a week now, and some mail goes no problems, and others just refuse to go, and remain in the inbox, others will send if I move them to the drafts box, others don't......there's no consistency ..........

Gordon - 14 May 2008 06:45 GMT > Yeah nobodys perfect, To whom are you talking? Please QUOTE the post you are replying to, as this is a Usenet Newsgroup, NOT a web forum.
Gary VanderMolen - 14 May 2008 08:48 GMT It is not at all clear whom you are addressing, but the plain fact is that we can't read people's minds. A problem needs to be coherently stated, with the pertinent program names identified, before we can render assistance.

Spartan 1 - 14 May 2008 09:47 GMT Gary, I can understand you can't read peoples minds, but you also need to bear in mind a lot of people with problems are not technically sound or profficient, and don't know their way around various operating systems.....so a typo about OS/and sytems should not be ridiculed by stating they can't even name their applications.....that being said, some of the advice works, some doesn't......thank you for taking the time to assist people who get their issues fixed.....
Gordon, it might not be a web forum, but it is still a forum, which means it's a discussion group, and people are coming here because they have problems, and are seeking obvious help, it's frustrating when that "help" still doesn't fix issues.....
I'll apologise in advance for being "ratty", but I've had problems with WLM/Outlook2003and my hotmail account now for 7 days, and there's no consistency with the error codes.....this was my latest one...

Gordon - 14 May 2008 13:22 GMT > Gary, > I can understand you can't read peoples minds, but you also need to > bear in mind a lot of people with problems are not technically sound or > profficient, Being able to tell us the correct name of what the OP is having trouble with is nothing to do with technical expertise - just being able to read properly, and a bit of common sense
> Gordon, it might not be a web forum, but it is still a forum, which > means it's a discussion group, No it doesn't. This is a Usenet Newsgroup hosted on an MS news server and replicated over many thousands of news servers round the globe, which unfortunately, a) has a web access and b) is poached by various leeching websites. It is NOT a "forum" or "discussion" group, whatever MS try to call it.

Hal Hostetler [MVP P/I] - 14 May 2008 20:24 GMT FWIW, MSN/Hotmail has had reliability issues and OODLES of intermittent, random server-side problems for as long as it's been in existence - something gets changed or breaks on the server, tons of folks all start having problems that just don't seem to have an explanation, MANY of these folks get on here, posting loads of messages, all with the same, or similar problems and ALL of them are (QUITE justifiably) darned unhappy. Whatever it was gets fixed on the servers some days later and everything goes back to normal (if there is such a thing for Hotmail). I'm sorry you're hiving problems, but most probably, its NOT on your end, NOT your installation, NOT your setups or configuration, nothing within your control. These problems usually magically fix themselves with never a word being said by those responsible, either for the error or the fix. Reliable, accurate help with Hotmail/MSN issues is, therefore, often difficult, if not impossible to provide here, though a good many folks are, and will always be, more than willing to try.

No-one was being rude - you must remember that no-one other than yourself can see your computer. You need to be as clear and as accurate as possible, giving as much detail as you possibly can. The phrase "MS 8.5" made absolutely no sense to anyone - we had NO clue as to what you were talking about...
