How do I retain or find sent emails. After a certain number of times going to
the folder (100? is default setting) sent mail compacted and retained
somewhere? Want to save/store emails indefinately.

When the database is compacted, no mail is removed.  Instead, the entries
in an index file used for deleted messages are removed, so that Windows
Mail can reach the remaining messages faster.

However, if you have selected an option that leaves the mail on the server
instead of moving it to your computer, your email provider may occasionally
choose to delete the older messages.

Some email providers ignore your requests never to delete anything.

I assume you've checked if the messages are hidden, but not deleted,
by clicking on Sent Items, then View, then Current View, then
Show All Messages?

I also assume that you've logged in using webmail instead of
Windows Mail to check what's on the server?

Yes to both.

Yes to both above. Nothing if copy of show messages either. Very much
appreciate your taking the time to figure this out with me.  Somthing is
initiating this removal of sent messages and cannot see why. Even if it was
removed to deleted items folder, would have seen it there prior to my
deletion. Would have been indicated in number of messages being deleted and I
would have clicked the older out of curiosity.
