But one has to be an expert in computers to use the advice under the heading "Windows Mail". I have been using computers since 1990, and I find the sort of instructions I see on this site to be unfathomable. How do you export Registry keys for heaven's sake? and to which place do you export them? I have Outlook 2003 installed and I found a way to back up my Windows Mail folders and messages to an external hard drive by exporting them first to Windows Mail and then dropping and dragging the Outlook Folder containing the .pst file to the external drive. Naturally the actual steps are a bit more complex than that, but you get the idea. The backup method you used won't save account data, rules, or program settings.
