I have tried to send vcf and excel spreadsheets from work email to my windows
mail but no luck.  The file size of the mail shows it's there - e.g. 56 kb,
but I can't access the attachment.  When I send it to my hotmail account,
it's there.  Other attachments have come through, but not these from work.  I
am very new to Vista and miss my Outlook!
Thanks!

Do not reply with email

Eugenia - 28 May 2008 20:54 GMT
Hi Frank - I had already unchecked that.  When I look at the properties I
see:

Content-class: urn:content-classes:message
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your help.

If you are sending from Outlook, make sure it's set toi Plain Text, not RTF.

If your work email program is Outlook, it is probably sending attachments
encoded in the proprietary RTF format. You will have to send using plain
text or standard HTML.

I've tried resending in plain text and std html.  some of the bits I see are:

Content-Type: application/ms-tnef;
    name="winmail.dat"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

You and Frank are a superb resource - so glad to have found the community
page!
Thanks again,

You're welcome.
Seeing "winmail.dat" is evidence of RTF (actually TNEF) encoding
being used. For more on this see

application/ms-tnef
indicates that it was sent using Outlook's RTF format.

If you're sure you had Outlook set to RTF, it may be that your Exchange
server is set to change it to RTF.
