Can you help me to deal with these error messages when I try to send/receive
emails in Windows Mail. My ISP is Sky Broadband if that's relevant.

What if any antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a
Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer? Some of them
cause various problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Are you sure Onetel supports ports 465 and 995?
According to their website, they don't.

Hi Gary,
No I don't think they do - they have suggested ports 110 and 476 for
incoming and outgoing servers respectively, which they say should work for
Windows Mail. Is it any different for Windows LiveMail, which I seem to have
on this machine?

The correct port numbers to use are determined by the particular mail
server, not by the user's mail program. In the error messages you
included below, it shows you are using port 465 for sending, and port 995
for receiving. Since Onetel's mail server doesn't support that, you can't use
those settings.
Why not try the settings specified in that Onetel link I gave you?

The ports are determined by what the server expects.
