I have right clicked on folder and selected "empty deleted items folder", but
am unable to empty it in one click.I have to delete each item one at a time
to empty folder, and obviously this takes some time,as the inevitable question
" are you sure" appears before I am allowed to do this.Does anyone have the
solution?

Click on OPTIONS then ADVANCED, then click on the MAINTENANCE button at the
bottom-right of that window.  Click the box that says 'Empty Messages from
the Deleted Items folder on exit.  Then click CLOSE.  Then click OK.  This
will set your Windows Mail to automatically delete items in that folder
whenever you exit (close) the Windows Mail.

Try this Microsoft fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090

Although it only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders.
