I was wondering if someone could help me.
When I delete my emails, they obviously get stored into the deleted box.
When I go into my deleted box, to fully erase them, a pop up comes up
stating that 'an unknown error has occured'.

How can I delete these messaged from my system?

Known issue.  See if this helps, it works for all folders:

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
