'nough is 'nough. We've had it and are going back to XP. Sad being this
frustrated and disappointed.

I've been using Windows Mail during these last two painful weeks. Is there a
way to export email now accumulated in Windows Mail, over to Outlook Express?

I'd *really* prefer not to use Outlook, but if there is no way to do the
above, can they be exported to Outlook 2003?

Thank you for any advice.

Going from WM to OE is simple.  WM stores all email messages in .EML format
which is native to OE.  Drag the messages into OE folders and drop them.

Yikes. I just took a look and Windows Mail creates a directory full of all
the .DBX mailboxes. Where might the .EML files be? Do you have to export
messages to get them?

False alarm. I was looking at an older Outlook Express directory.

Where does Windows Mail store it's messages?

I did do an Export > Microsoft Windows Mail just in case. But I have no idea
where the exported messages went. Is there a way of finding out where WM
exports to?

Thank you.

I wonder if this thread qualifies as a soliloquy.

I just found all the WM messages in:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\

Shoulda known.

I'll back up those EML files, but I also found the WM export... it's a large
file named WindowsMail.MSMessageStore . Does anyone know of a reliable app
that could convert this into OE messages? (I'm just looking for plans B, C
and D... I'm not confident after the last few weeks.)

I'm afraid I'm confused... OE6 stores email in dbx files. Windows Mail are
eml.

Any way of getting Windows Mail email over so that they appear in OE
'folders' and are searchable?

Windows Mail's EML files can be dragged from Windows Explorer into a folder
in an open OE's Folder List.

Thank you, Frank. I wouldn't have thought it could be that simple.
