Media Center fixup

I gather from a quick google that the expiration of Media Center usage at
the end of last year is well know. What I could not find in a quick look was
a fix. It certainly was not in the bits that I downloaded from MSDN in mid
February.

Suggestions please on how to get this fixed.

Al Christoph

Sorry... can you explain the actual problem a bit clearer please?

I installed the Dec 2005 bits as downloaded from my MSDN subscription. When
I click on Media Center I get the error message "This trial version has
expired and can no longer be used."

If you Google appropriately you will discover lots of complaints that
someone goofed and had Media Center quit on 12/31/05. I found at least one
posting that said that there was a fix available but its link to MSDN just
took me to my subscriber download page.

At any rate, I've now dug around the subscriber download list and found what
I need. Unfortunately the security in IE 7 isn't letting me get it. So I'll
get it through another box.

Regards,
Al

Ahh right - Media Center in the Decemeber CTP's totally screwed up - I can't
think of anyone who's actually got it working. Check in February CTP (next
few days).

There's a fix on MSDN subscriber downloads right next to the OS download.

Ahh.. I presume you're on the beta - if so then check out the Microsoft
Connect site and the Vista subcategory - in the downloads section at the
bottom there are some updates for Media Center. Try those and see if it
works then. There's also a Media Center Diagnostics there as well - run that
and see how things shape up.

Hope this helps :o)

Ahh that's simple then -

1) Grasp computer by the hands (wearing gloves is optional)
2) Aim and select a nearby second (or more is again, optional) floor window
3) Throw out of window.

Work's an absolute treat :o)
