hi,
im running vista 64 home premium,
dual core 2 duo e6600,
asus ab90pro mobo,
2gb ddr2
ati aiw x1900
on a toshiba 37" 1080i hdtv with component via dvi to component.

i cloned the main monitor to the toshiba and disabled the main monitor so i
could run the pc in hdtv 1080i @ 30 hz as per ati's instructions,

however when i play video the video is very stuttery,
is there a cure?

I belive what you want  is standard 1080i at 30 frames per second to you CRT
TV and you may have ended up sending it 1080i at 15 frames per second.  The
ATSC standard name for 1080i is 1080i/60 since it takes 60 fields per second
to create 30 frames per second.

hi,
thanks for the reply,
i only have 2 options in display properties,
29 hertz or 30 hertz,
when i reduce the resolution down to around 720p i am able to select 60 hertz
and then the video is fine.
is there no way to make vista output at 1080 with 60 hertz?
i know its early days for vista so i dont expect any 3rd party programs to
allow this yet.
lee.

ATI released new 7.3 Catalyst drivers yesterday.  I suggest that you install
them and that determine how to tell the drivers to output 1080i as a
selection and not by trying to define it yourself by telling it you are
using an HDTV.  Since I don't have an ATI card I don't know the details of
how to do that using the CCC.
