I have the same issue.  Without fail, Vista Movie Maker crashes every time I
try to import any picture, regardless of format.  I simply load the app,
click "Import > Pictures" in the task pane, click the image I want, MM says
"Importing Files" and then "Windows Movie Maker has stopped working".  If I
can't import images, the program really can't be used in any serious way.

By the way, I am Nathan Weinberg of the InsideMicrosoft blog
(microsoft.blognc.com).  I am attempting to add some video blogs to my
coverage of Vista, and it is very important to me to be able to get this to
work.  Any way you can get back to me as soon as possible would be very
appreciated.
