You are probably using a PC/Laptop with an onboard SigmaTel audio chip.
To fix this problem do the following:
Control panel > Sound > Speakers/Headphones > Enhancements:
Select "Disable all Enhancements"
That should fix it.

thanks man really helped a problem that has been bugging me for ages
I have tried this and my audio skips during different times in different
place in the song. Happens on preinstalled audio and cds, dvds all media.
Took computer back and recieved new one. Still happens. HELP>

Liz you're welcome, I'm glad this thread is still helping others out
there even up to now. FWIW though, I recently built a desktop with yet
another onboard Sigmatel sound chip and there was no skipping.
