No sound in Media Player

Just got a new computer with Vista.. my sound does not work on any videos.
However, works fine for songs. Please help me fix this issue! Thanks so much!

What video file types are affected?  Do you get an error dialog or any red
"X"s in the playlist?

I have the same problem.. And I get and red X in the playlist..

My friends send me funny short videos, and most have sound, but some don`t
why do some have sound and some don`t..
HELP...
