Hi--

My issue is.....my 5.1 audio doesn't work when I listen to mp3's (even when
using wmp11, watch avi's, etc...however it does work when I do the audio test
in the sound options, and all windows sounds.  the audio chipset is ADI
AD1988B....I can see all speakers and test each one....anyone else have
similair problems or suggestions?  Thanks for your help - jbrosmer

I have the same problem with Vista RC1-x64, Soundblaster Audigy 2, and
Creative Vista beta drivers dated Aug 11. Audio test in sound options shows
all 5 speakers working but when I play mp3's using WMP11 I only get stereo
sound.. the rear speakers are silent.

mp3 is not 5.1.  XP delivers sound to all speakers regardless of the audio
format.  Vista will dleiver 5.1 when a 5.1 audio source (DVD with 5.1) is
played.  If your config works then it will work with MCE or WMP 11.  Most
DVD's have 2 or 3 audio sources. LCPM, DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1.  You can't get 5.1
with LCPM.  Vista is a more precise OS than XP.
