After installing a "critical update' from windows update for ATI Radeon X1300
series graphics card, Aero has gone haywire for me.  EXTREMELY SLOW
PERFORMANCE-LAGGING LIKE CRAZY!!!

I have Visiontek X1300 PCI (not PCI Express!!) 256 MB GDDR2 Graphics card.
this is a premium ready graphics card.  Anyone else experiencing similar
anomalies with this latest update?  Catalyst driver from ATI's website causes
same thing to occur.

I already brought this up in Performance section, but I am bringing it up
again to see if anyone else has the same problem.  Any suggestions/answers to
why this is happenign woudl be greatly appreciated.

Yup,

Have an x1400 and the ati updates just suck. The native driver in Vista
works best-still. So I just ignore the updates.
Although, just today ATI posted a new catalyst and driver-haven't tried it
yet tho!!

The new drivers improve situation a tad bit...but Aero still is much slower
than Aero under native included MS drivers for ATI cards...Nvidia's drivers
are in much better shape than ATI's...wake up, ATI!!

I bought the X1300 PCI by Visiontek and have struggled to get the Aero to
work correctly.  When I use the MS supplied drivers Aero works fine.  Do not
follow the install instructions, use the microsoft supplied driver
(WDDM)-should show on the welcome center screen.  Thanks for the tip off Jeff.
